We hope to bring all of this information together so that anyone interested can very easily learn about MIT and the ring's beautiful history. Over the years, many different organizations across MIT have recorded pieces of the Brass Rat's history - organizations including the Tech and the MIT Alumni Association. I was able to find the nickname (brass rat) -but it does not fit in the boxes. The purpose of the project is to centralize all information about the Brass Rat since its creation in 1929 and the committee that designs it, RingComm. The Brass Rat Project was started by the MIT Class of 2023 Ring Committee in June of 2020.

In 1929, the first MIT ring committee created a standard for what was later to become one of the most recognized and valued symbols of an MIT education, the 'Brass Rat'.
